About the Speaker:
As a Pelvic Health Occupational Therapist, Sujata blends the mind-body-soul approach of Ayurveda and Yoga with Western Medicine techniques like Osteopathic Manipulation and Occupational Therapy to treat pelvic floor dysfunction.
Sujata’s journey into pelvic therapy began in 2017, during her first pregnancy, when she struggled to find guidance on preparing her core and pelvic floor for delivery and postpartum recovery. Through her own research and preparation, she experienced a smooth delivery and recovery, a stark contrast to the many difficult experiences she had heard from others. This realization fueled her passion for helping others navigate pelvic health with greater ease, knowledge, and confidence.
She is especially dedicated to working with chronic pelvic pain and trauma-informed pelvic care, helping patients rediscover safety and confidence in their pelvis. Her goal is to create a space where individuals can heal, regain control over their bodies, and feel truly healthy in their pelvic floor again.
Sujata was recognized by the New York State Occupational Therapy Association with the Merit in Practice award for Pelvic Health and is committed to increasing awareness and accessibility to pelvic wellness services. She has provided pelvic health and yoga-based education to universities, non-profits, physician groups, and the general community, aiming to expand knowledge on the benefits of integrative pelvic health care.
Outside of her practice, Sujata loves Argentine Tango & Bollywood dancing, binge-watching Netflix, and exploring the outdoors with her husband and sons. She is a clinical researcher, and also the author of “Not Just Kegels – The Exhausted Mama’s Guide to Pregnancy & Postnatal Wellness,” which ranked #1 on Amazon’s Pregnancy & Childbirth list.
